author: I know someone asked the same quest a few months ago but I can't find the thread now! I am listed as a dependent on my husband's S1 Health form. Now I am retired I am entitled to one in my own right so UK are sending me one. When I come to enter details there was a line which said "reason" or something similar which people were asking about. Also if I enter my own form will that delete my dependent status on my husband's form or do I have to notify SS separately. Newcastle have said they can delete me as a dependent but to check with Spanish authorities that I am registered as such. Any help greatly appreciated. Thx
I have been through this earlier in the year UK sent me an S1 form and I thought I would have to go to the social services in Chiclana, in the mean time my husband went to make an appt with the doc and found that he had been deleted and I was on the system on my own card it took alot of calls and running back and forth, so beware you may be OK and get it sorted easily, our problem was someone in the UK pressed the delete button xxxx

Ohhh here we go. I think with the fluctuation of warm and cold we are catching all sorts. I was ill for 4 weeks. Flu like symptoms but nothing came of it … just feeling poop in general. Hope you get better soon ****

sorry to say but those symptoms sound more like covid … have you tested ? ****
author: yeah, negative. This was all throat and nose, nothing at all in the lungs.

author: 8 Chiclana · 🔴 STATEMENT FROM THE "PRO-HOSPITAL PLATFORM" Several Chiclana neighborhood collectives have made public a statement demanding the creation of a hospital in the city: As a result of the poor healthcare in Chiclana due to the lack of means and health staff, the collectives represented in this meeting, we are obliged to request the Board of Andalusia, the construction of a hospital in Chiclana. At the same height as they have it: Jerez, Cadiz, San Fernando, Port of Santa Maria, Puerto Real etc.
It's incomprehensible that a city like Chiclana with a population of 89,200 registered inhabitants who become 240,000 people in the summer and 140,000 average inhabitants during the year. This one in line with all these municipalities. Why did we request a hospital emergency? The health chaos is regrettable, the existing outpatients are overflowing with lack of health staff and for more inri and desperation from 8 pm citizens who need a doctor have to go to the specialties center of the Longuera, to say something, because few or no specialties exist where tails are eternal and people protest with all the reason in the world.
We have one of the most welcoming tourist cities in Spain, meaning we are prepared to host thousands of people throughout the year, but unfortunately we can't offer them proper healthcare. The shortage of ambulances, the enormous waits to see a specialist and the height of all the ills is if you have to operate, because we depend on the clinical hospital of Puerto Real, saturated to the limit. It is a must of duty to report vandals who tore apart a banner placed on the Music Avenue in which we showed support for our doctors and health staff, which we reiterate.
Given this chaotic situation, and in defense of the health of all Chiclaneros we have created "THE PLATFORM PRO-HOSPITAL IN CHICLANA" where all social collectives, health, neighbor associations, owners communities, sportsmen and we are open to meeting with all political parties that are concerned because of the serious problem that exists.
The collective integrated on this platform will carry out, in the coming days, a campaign to raise awareness and sensitize citizens about this urgent need. A N A E S RIP Garcia Gutierrez RIP Rafael Alberti Zalgaones High School 2 / 2 AVV Pillar of Cerrillo AVV San Pedro Recreation Day RIP Antonio Machado Church of Santa Ana AVV Azahar from long distance Saint Jose del Arenal RIP Fernando Quiñones AVV La Fuensanta RIP Federico Garcia Lorca AVV The Speedway In addition, different blocks of the neighborhoods Caja de Savings, Fermesa and Las Marismas are being incorporated.

Depending on the emergency either local health centre, vejer (but only have some specialists for emergencies) And best shot is Puerto real main hospital (15 mins drive). ****
La Longuera is Chiclana town centre, Viamed also if you have health insurance plus the above suggestions. ****
Viamed have an emergency department open 24 hours Annie. ****
La Janda hospital below Vejer or El Puerto de Santa Maria Hospital. Your nearest Centro de Salud should also have A&E ****

I would have thought that as a "customer" at Viamed, you can request and receive whatever sedation you feel you need. If you want the same as you are used to, maybe take some records of previous endoscopies to show them. ****
Had one last month yes I had sedation all very quick and no problem ****

X-rays, examination, cortisone shot and some great anti-inflammatories and I was able to fly. All with my EHIC. Shame the drugs aren't available in the UK.

(on another local expat site recently) author: Hello , so I have been in this group since we bought our house last october but this is my first post. Are there any urgent care places in the area with english or german speaking providers? We just got here on friday and while given the yard much needed attention I was bitten by who knows what 🤦♀️🤷♀️, not sure yet if I need to have it looked at or not. Any recommendations would be appreciated
Bahia med 24 hours 7 days a week Doctor on call I pay €13.50 a month you can sign up with them there and then . Little office to the left as you go in ❤️ good luck In town right by indoor market ****
La Janda in Vejer is very good, you can use an EHIC and there'll be no charge. Huge car park etc, and not that busy. ****
Viamed with private medical insurance. La longuera if you are in the Spanish health system, we tried here a number of years ago with travel insurance which they didn’t accept, I don’t know if it is any different now though. You could try a farmacia. The one in Rana Verde was open earlier, not sure if still open though, the rotate on Sundays. Good luck, hope you don’t need to go ****
Longuera health center by the blue bridge ...open 24hrs. On Sunday's ****
Viamed but will charge Hospital Puerto Real ****
With the equivalent of a EHIC card you could go to any public emergency ward ... So Puerto Real Hospital Urgencias ( EHIC = European health insurance card ) Have you such a card from your country of birth .. I'm assuming you're not yet registered in the public system here ****
author: no we are not registered here yet since we are not fulltime yet, but I will definetly call my insurance tomorrow asking them what I need to do in case I need a Dr. while I am here

(on another local expat site recently) author: OK, silly little thing, but if it helps someone else, then it is well worth the trouble of posting. I have been suffering from agonising nighttime cramps, so much so that I was taking muscle relaxants, and every damn treatment I could buy, all to no avail. I was bitching about it when a facebook friend made a simple suggestion. He asked me if I used much salt, and when I said no, he suggested sprinkling a pinch or two on my food. I had had a very good friend who had heart problems, who was very strict on his salt intake, and the habit had rubbed off on me. Anyway, I started adding salt to my food, and I haven't had a single bad cramp since which is a joy, believe me. Another tip for anyone who suffers from small, localised, savage itches that drive you mad, so you scratch, it gets worse, you break the skin, it bleeds, scabs over, itches some more... you get the picture. Possibly it's what they call urtica.
I finally tried pain relief gels like Ibuleve, voltarol, and so on. As soon as it itches, apply the gel, don't scratch and every time the itch spikes, reapply. Also helps with itchy bites. Interestingly the itch gets worse and worse with more and more outbreaks as time passes. Treating it like this, it fades away, and I haven't experienced it for ages.

(on another local expat site recently) author: Hola a todos I am moving to Chiclana in two weeks and was curious how long it takes to get established with a doctor locally? I will ultimately need an endocrinologist, so between finding a doctor and getting a referral, how long should I expect to wait to be seen by an endocrinologist? I’m trying to estimate how many months of my thyroid medication I should bring with me in advance.
Depends if you are working / pensioner via S1 or how you are going to apply for health care. Once this is approved registering with doctor won't take too long but waiting list with specialist can take a while. If you need help registering with the public health care we can help at TempleCAMBRIA, bethan@templecambria.com
author: I will be on a student visa through NALCAP and they will also provide me insurance through that program.
Bethan Trebilcock In that case it's private health care ? If so things should be quicker
author: I will not be paying for private healthcare, it will be provided through my job which is funded by the government. So that means generally longer wait times? That’s a little disappointing jaja, but I appreciate the information. I’ll probably try and bring enough medicine to avoid needing a doctor then. Thank you

They verify your details email, address phone number etc and ask you to give them a code that they have sent in an SMS. Basically I can't see any valid need to verify anything by code, as I remember it, they call direct and tell you when to present yourself for the jab. Anything else ignore to be on the safe side?
