author: Does anyone know why they are cutting down all the Oleander bushes along the highway? Such a shame?
They haven't cut them back, they have got rid of them! ****
Because.. Him in his infinite wisdom, did not realise they grow very fast. And maybe. Speed cameras can't catch you. Or maybe? It's to waste the taxpayers money, instead of filling potholes on the highways. I don't know.. There's still enough money left for the new roundabouts appearing everywhere. It's all good fun ****
well I would rather drive here than in the U.K. in comparison and not to sound pompous the roads in the U.K. are dreadful. Especially the smaller B roads. I don’t why we have so many roundabouts here when the majority of drivers still don’t know how to use them ****
I think cutting them back before the flowers turn to seed pods must help them flower again. ****
They do it most years, they do grow back quickly ****

I don't understand why the powers that be keep lining roads with them. In la loma by the carrefour the road has 100+ small oleander planted about 1ft apart... they'll soon be enormous and will need regular pruning. I live in the urb opposite and the regular early morning noise of chainsaws, leaf blowers and hedge trimmers from March to end September gets really wearing....i also wonder why plants like giant bird of paradise and palms are put in the middle of roundabouts...nicely obscuring the view of oncoming traffic.
