author: Does anyone have any recommendations for a solicitor to help me with a disastrous vehicle purchase? The dealer I bought from (based in Granada)
is wanting to keep the vehicle in his name until August in order to avoid paying some tax or other!!! I already have the van, insurance cover in my name, a 'contacto de compraventa'
and some papers from his gestoria. But they are not processing any paperwork at his request.

I bought the van to do a big trip starting in June - taking me to Italy, France and the UK.
The trip needs cancelling if I can't get the van into my name! Especially as I need to do the ITV before I go. I'm worried that just doing a denuncia will start a long legal process and
totally scupper my chances of doing the trip I have planned so long 🙁

If you are the seller of a vehicle, for your peace of mind we advise you to notify the sale of the vehicle as soon as it is sold.
Do not wait for the buyer to complete the transfer process.

TOP 3 MISTAKES when buying or selling a vehicle.

1º- People only write down at the bottom of the contract the date, forgetting to add the EXACT TIME. You will avoid speeding tickets committed by the buyer if you follow this advice.
Remember that once you sell your vehicle, if you do not write the hour, you will be responsible for the traffic offences of that day.

2º- Do not forget to ask for a BOTH SIDES photocopy of seller/buyer IDs.
Some persons only ask for a copy of the front id and once they go to the DGT office they realize that they need the full document and then they have problems contacting the owner which
makes it impossible to change the ownership.

3º- Never ever give all documents without signing a contract and getting a copy of the seller/buyer IDs.
Every day people come to the police station to report that they sell their vehicle to a person who promised to change ownership and 2,3,4 years later, they are still receiving the tax
and even a parking fine. They can make a notification of sale to the traffic department because they do not have any identification from the buyer which is a real pain in the neck for them.

Depends what you want to spend and how long you want it to last. I've been looking too. The best pages are the cambalaches for cheap cheap
- around 1-2,000 euros. For a decent runner second hand you're still looking at between 5 and 7,000 for something that may last a bit longer ****

Good luck with that. We gave up and bought new. Hardly any difference ****

Ive been looking too...prices are ridiculous, for cars that are even older than the one I want to replace ****

sure are - it depends what you need it for. I bought a car nearly 7 years ago with massively high mileage and 20 years old.
It cost me 1,000 euros. It has been tremendous but now on it's last legs. I can't even find one like that now ****

Second hand prices may drop soon when the emissions rules kick in ****

unlikely as they're now saying it may take until 2025 to implement it. Also will only apply to driving into town, not on the outskirts so going about
daily business may not be necessary unless you actually want to enter Chiclana Town itself (ie. shopping area). ****

Loads of Work done only used locally owned by an elderly gentlemen serviced every year, 5 new Michelin tyres €750, new roof interior,
both cam belts and tensioners done this car has wanted for nothing only done 79000 miles 2950 euros or offers, new discs wiper motor
very well maintained itv to sept 23 (not once failed)

Negatives sun roof sealed but does not leak paint work on bonnet dull by sun and a few bits of lacquer peeling it's not a new car but
mechanically perfect
Car can't be taken until first or second week of July as its still needed reason for sale owners moving back to the UK

I think the place just mentioned is called Gestion 10, it's in calle jesus Nazareno, number 10. Same side of road as Butrons, past the pharmacy. Very efficient. ****

author: A bit of a sad day today. The car that my grandad bought for me roughly 8 years ago has had to go to Scrap Yard Heaven.
It has served me well. 26 years old and carried everything from washing machines and dishwashers to 10 sun loungers at a time.
Now time for it to rest peacefullly.
