author: Has anyone ever been stopped coming out of Gib with meat etc.
I successfully smuggled sausage rolls over at Christmas ****
We did a months worth of shopping there before realising the limits. Meat, tons of alcohol and fags. My heart was in my mouth ****
I got stopped and had it confiscated and treated like a criminal for 8 cheese and onion pasties and a pack of bacon. I doubt there was even any real dairy in those pasties. I wouldn't do it again as they took my TIE and passport and I'm now on record there. The man next to me had too many cigarettes and they took his car and he had a 2000€ fine... ****
meat and cheese etc all banned. Sorry you got nailed. Me I now regard it as not worth my while to go into Gib any more. ****

(on another local expat site recently author: Good evening. Has anybody crossed the border to Giblartar on an EU Identity card?
EU citizens can go across to Gibraltar with just EU Id card, no passport needed. I have witnessed this myself ****
author: perfect. Thank you so much
no problem, I didn’t believe it myself until I drove to Gibraltar with a couple with only EU Id and no passports. I needed passport as resident in Spain but from UK, but they didn’t ****

author: Gibraltar boarder officers are being a pain again. Asking for invitation letter for family staying. They eventually let my sister in law through yesterday but on Tuesay they refused entry to 35 Gibraltarians who only have Gib residency not citizenship.
Asked for proof of address in Spain yesterday on leaving Gibraltar. Had copy of NIE but insisted on an address! People were being refused! ****

(on another local expat site recently) author:Arrived this morning into Gibraltar, Spanish border force still insisting on destination verification before allowing any brits in, I fortunately had just received my utility bill and was still in my emails, but it was chaos for some who were just visiting relatives for a short stay. Does anyone know if this is a permanent thing now and is it all Spain?
Is that even with a TIE? ****
I haven't been stopped or questioned when I show mine. ****
I looked on the CAB website and they are saying the carta de invitacion is not due to come in force until 2027. Not heard this happening anywhere else in Spain. I would have thought that a TIE would be sufficient though ****
I went in and out of Gibralter twice last week, showed passport and TIE...no problem at all. ****
