Almost 32,000 passengers board the Cádiz Bay Tram in its first week - The Minister of Public Works highlights an average of 4,977 per day
the effort made by the Andalusian Government since 2019, with the tender for 25 contracts and an investment of 38.5 million euros. The latest agreement, has been the recent award to Renfe Viajeros of the provision of the Trambahía service, for which the Andalusian Government will pay 5.5 million annually for a period of ten years. “The 2023 budgets include 14.4 million euros in tram operation, a figure that includes Renfe contract payments, maintenance, energy consumption, amortization and technical assistance”.
To this amount will be added the 30.8 million euros planned for the manufacture and supply of three new trains to improve the availability and capacity of the tram, as well as almost 11 million euros in terms of digitization, sustainability and intermodality charged to the React-EU funds. In this regard, the minister recalled that " the Trambahía is the largest investment by the Andalusian Government in infrastructure in the metropolitan area of Cádiz".
