They may be back soon once they finally stock for the winter - I love their salmon en croutes but they stop doing them in the summer and normally put them back in just before Christmas - might be the same for the falafel xxxx

author: Tiled roof terraces: the one in the place we are about to buy is “painted” every year: what is this paint? The tiles seem original red/terracotta and not shiny. Is this something we can do?
Ben Walby Its called ‘caucho’ and is very think waterproof paint. Can buy in red and blue (for pools mainly). Easy to do yourself but very messy as paint is so thick.
John Coe It's painted every year because it has an underlying problem. The waterproofing under the tiles has deteriorated, and this is a cheap fix, rather than doing an expensive proper repair. As stated above, it's called caucho, and is available from most paint shops. It's a rubber based flexible paint, and you can do it yourself, nice and thick with a roller.

Try Viveros Reyes the garden centre in Conil. They usually have a room full of boxes of different sizes that they get their ceramics in, so they are strong as well.

I know some of you use a guy to service your pellet burners and wondered if you thought he might help with log burners too. If yes, please can someone give me his contact info as these elderly people are struggling with the cold . Thanks! Happy Sunday 😀🎅🏻

author: Hi! I need some guidance on where in Chiclana I can buy clothes for children that are suitable for December in London. We are from southern California so I have no idea how to dress kids for "real" winter or if the garments they sell here will be warm enough? 🙈 7.5 and 10 year old boys and almost 6 year old girl 😊
Definitely layers! Definitely Primark! There’s no point spending a fortune on winter clothes which are used for two months of the year here. Enjoy! They’re predicting snow this week ****
U will need thermals.. spoke to my mum yesterday and forcast minus digits the next few weeks! ****
Saw good value thermals in decathlon, and also primark is good value for kids! Layers of long sleeve, jumpers and coat! Hat, scarf and gloves too! ****
Buy it in a shop such as Primark or H&M when you arrive if you just want cheap and cheerful gear for one holiday. We are going to have a cold spell here over the next two weeks, so expect Temperatures to be single digit (centigrade of course for Californian info🤣) and colder at night. Use layers that can be removed when going in and out. ****
Decathlon ****
zara is always good ****
Clothes here are fine for London. London is a completely different kind of cold and not damp like here. Plus when you're in any of the shops, department stores or houses everything is centrally heated so you end up having to strip off. Primark or Sprinter you'll get everything ****

To send items to the UK you should follow the instructions provided by Correos or courier company. You may also want to look at the guidance for those receiving parcels in the UK (https://www.royalmail.com/brexit) so that your intended recipient doesn’t get a surprise bill along with their Christmas gift.
Don't. ****
I send gifts to England through Amazon UK they arrive quickly and without any tax ****

(on another local expat site recently) author: Just looking for some advice please , my Grandsons coming for a visit, so anyone thats had a baby here, he’s 5 months old , did you use tap water to make bottles for formula ? We are on town water but partner won’t drink it as he says it’s heavily chlorinated , I’ve also read you should boil bottle water for formula , this is all very stressful this 2 week stay !!!!! Help !!!!!! Bottle or tap **** was 8 months when he came over and we only used bottled water **** I was told by my health visitor years ago to always use Evian for mixing formula x just check in supermarket because you can buy some formulas already made up in cartons **** Bottled water, even for adults I wouldn't trust the drinking water here **** I never used tap always bottle water for babies **** My two youngest grandchildren were raised here and always had bottled water. Always boil water before using it for young babies even though it's bottled because it's not sterilised. We always used Lanjaron because it's low in sodium but if you look in the supermarkets there are bottles which have a picture of a baby on them. I'm sure Lidl do one. ****

author: Hi! Is there a website or somewhere we can check the water quality at the beach? It’s looking pretty murky after the rain, so want to know when it’s safe to swim again. Thanks!
A beach in Cadiz was closed in 2019 for e.coli 🙃 It’s common after storms, just not sure how long after the storm until it’s safe to swim here. It doesn’t seem the water is tested in the off season. Oh well, we will wait 2-3 days after the last of the rain…if it ever ends next week! ****
You'll be fine....the Atlantic is possibly the cleanest waters to touch Spain... In all the years I've never known any beaches in the Costa de la Luz region to close a beach due to " bacteria " in the sea. ****
author: but how do we know when it’s safe to swim again? Even if it’s clear in appearance it could still be full of bacteria, etc. from run-off ****
It’s tidal it’s the Atlantic it’s fine ****
It's blurry because of the storm moving the bottom but the water is still good for swimming ****
Think this time of year I would worry more about hyperthermia more than bacteria ****
