author: I am very sad. Yesterday I damaged my lovely car, she is a bit of an old girl, 12 years, Mercedes. On top of this she does need a service. Have had her now a year. Where do I take her? Does it have to be a Mercedes garage? Please help. Thank you in advance.
Daniel Parente in El Colorado, he is really good and we go there with our Mercedes as well, he did the service check last time. ****
Re warranty, your car will be out of warranty at 12 years anyway, so it doesn’t matter who does the service.Mine has just gone beyond the 10 years for extended warranty, but I still prefer the main dealer. They offer a monthly service plan, so the cost is spread out over the year, rather than being paid in a subgle lump sum. I’m paying €45/month for an A service + a B service. My last service was a b6. Which one is your car on now? B8? ****
author: thank you for your information. I only bought the car last year. So I honestly don’t know. I will make an appointment for next week. Again thank you so much.
No under EU law you do not need to take it to a registered service station for Mercedes as long as they use Mercedes parts the warranty won’t be invalidated ****
I don’t trust any of these little independent shops in Chiclana, based on the nonsense I’ve seen them try to pull off. I always take mine to Cadimar in jerez. They’re probably slightly pricier than going to a small shop, but at least I know it’s in good hands. Brake pads, filter changes etc are ok to be done at any shop, but when it comes to engine, gearbox, etc, I’d always pick the main dealer ****

(on another local expat site recently) author: Hello all. Does anyone know of a good vehicle bodywork repair/repainter? Many thanks.
I know a guy who does good quality work and panel beats as much as possible, rather than replacing panels. This usually works out cheaper. PM me if you want his contact details. He’s in Chiclana. ****
My partner no longer has his own garage but works at TALLER EL COLORADO, you can visit and get a quote with no compromise. Thank you 621 27 79 73 ****

(on another local expat site recently) author: I got fuel yesterday at the Garage next to Burger King on Venta Florin. It has charged me the same amount twice for fuel. It is still sitting at 'pending' in my account. Is this a usual occurance here? The bank can't do anything whilst the amount is pending. It has totally put me off using my card for fuel!!!!
This happened to me twice last year at that fuel station - the pending amount doesn’t go through - so you will only be charged once !! So don’t worry. I just stopped going there after that or paid cash!! ****
author: thanks. I thought this might have been a common problem. I shall use cash from now on!!! Thank you The self service ones are WAY cheaper (for example Ballenoil). Worth checking out ****
Always use Ballenoil (near las Lagunas) never had a problem. And just as a footnote, their powerwash for the car is much better & cheaper than other well known service stations, but chut, don't want to queue ****
author: I specifically put the amount of 60 euros to pay by card so not to fill it. It has charged me twice but still pending. Hopefully they realise their mistake.
in that case it sounds like it is an error. ****
