author: Am I living in the past or is electricity still supposed to be cheaper weekends and holidays?
Depends what Tariff you're on. And the one we are on we have low rate sat & Sun Nd Bank Hols, and Mon to Fri we have the 3 tiers of rates xxxx
So when did it change I thought it was cheap after mid night until 7 am and cheap all weekend and public holidays xxxx
author: so did I, but I got one of these apps that tells you the hourly charges and yesterday at times were .58c, and today the most expensive times were between 12 midnight - 8 in the morning, .58 - .66. Cheapest times between 10.00 - 19.00, .29 - .38
that doesn't gel with our latest bill xxxx
We’re with energía xx1 VPSC regulated Tariff and still have the three levels, peak, normal and low. xxxx
Depends on your tarif. I have the cuota única and pay the same monthly, and price the same 24h xxxx
How do you change the tariff you are on? xxxx
xxxx just ask Endesa- if that's who you are with, it was very straightforward xxxx

They are the same company. If you look at the bill under the Energia XXL it says Endesa. xxxx
author: perfect thanks, was not sure

author: Sorry to start the day on a negative but has anyone had this charge from Endesa for GAS that they tell us is a government charge??? See photo. It has put my bill up hugely! Anyone shed any light on it please. See the entry on the bill COSTE TOPE DEL GAS. Any info greatly appreciated.
Me all I can do is try to improve fabric with another company. If you want, let me know and I will check, free of charge for sure xxxx
Swopping supplier or modifying your contract seems to be a driving factor .... From the CAB posts xxxx
they start it when your yearly contract is up that’s why it’s hitting people at different times xxxx
Yes our charge was 176.00 euro. on the bill we got last month that was on top of the changes for electrical consumption xxxx
We’ve just had a bill for one month for 578€…….I’ll be investigating tomorrow xxxx

author: Hi can someone help me with my electricity bill i used around 1000 kwh less but my bill is higher than the last one and is made up with lots of extra charges, does anyone know what these are
The only real extra charge is the Otros which is the contribution towards the gas needed to run the power stations it's based on your consumption. Our contribution on our bill which covered the last 2 months was 332.00 euro xxxx
Hi author: we can have a look at your bill with no cost, to see if you would pay less somewhere else. We work hand to hand with more than 29 energy companies. Can send us an email to savingenergy@natirel.es or can arrange an appt +34682283164. Hope It helps

IBERDROLA / BONO SOCIAL - Scam Phone Call Some people have been receiving calls from people impersonating the electricity company Iberdrola, in which the scammers inform the victims about an offer for a €50 discount to their account and a percentage discount on their bill, if they do not receive social benefits. The National Police reminds that in cases where the authenticity of calls is in doubt, hang up and call the company's contact number directly. The primary rule is to never reveal private passwords or personal data through any channel. Financial entities can communicate with their clients if any verification is necessary, but in no case will they request that you disclose information such as secret codes or bank details. If you doubt the authenticity of a call, it is better to hang up and be the ones to initiate a new communication with our bank through official contact numbers.

author: Anybody heard of an electricity provider called iberdrola? Sounds to good to be true.
Iberdrola are one of the biggest providers in Spain. I’m sure it is not a scam but make sure you check the small print and the other costs xxxx
I am very happy with Iberdrola. Have been with them for years xxxx
careful about changing suppliers. Some friends did and they were hit with an extra charge that DOUBLED their bill xxxx
author:the guy told me €00.15 per KWH and no standing charge, does that sound correct to you?
no is a scam. Their rates for existing users are pretty good but anybody changing contracts or suppliers now is getting hit with this gas surcharge on electricity bills xxxx
author: Thanks. This guy had a stand in Leroy Merlin. Thought it sounded to good to be true.

(on another local expat site recently) author: Electric boilers v Gas.....thoughts please.
We have an electric boiler and really like it, don't miss the gas bottles that's for sure. ****
we have solar electric support too. Gas only as fallback in winter when its really cloudy or raining ****
Electric for convenience. Who wants to mess about with gas bottles in this day and age, especially as you get older. ****
Richard Sewell With how gas water heaters are installed that I’ve come across in this area just have an electric one, a lot safer and not life threatening if installed by a cowboy. Richard Sewell If you want a free quote contact britspan
Electric there is only two of us do it's only on for about an hour or so during the day ****
Ben Walby I am looking in to a heat pump electric boiler for a client of mine as they are super efficient. New tech so still expensive, but an interesting concept. 100L units of standard heat element boilets can be as little as 150e so certainly better value if replacing a defunct gas boiler. Did one recently for a rental house - tenants super happy as werent used to butane and I personally hate boilers installed inside the house, as did they. Guess its down to personal preference. Id image cost differences for running are negligable.
Given the choice I would chose electric (with solar panels) now.
My personal opinion is that they are more economic & environmentally friendly plus I hate changing the gas bottle & running out of hot water mid shower…it’s always me! ****
Solar hot water is great in the summer but doesn't work in the winter, even when there is enough sun to charge batteries for people who live off grid. Heat and air pumps may be the way forward but I believe the pump itself consumes a fair bit, so not feasible in houses off grid with solar charged batteries. Happy to be proved wrong. ****

I love our electric boiler - would never go back to gas to heat water ****
Any recommendations for electric boiler makes? ****
Richard Sewell they are pretty much the same, however you need to know how many litres and this depends on usage of hot water , ie , how many showers at once. The one with the biggest guarantee would be a good start.
I had a Fleck Electric Water Heater installed just over a year or so ago. Very pleased with it cost around €230. plus fitting. Fed up with always running out of gas mid hair wash/shower and not having anyone to send to fit a new bottle I was risking slipping with wet feet making the dash to replace gas bottle. I have not noticed any significant difference in electricity bills. ****
