(on another local expat site recently)
author: Electric bill after solar installation Last Endesa bill (18 sept to 24 Oct) = 169.70 First Iberdrola bill after solar panels installed (24 Oct to 22 Nov) = 37.40
how much was the purchase & installation ?? If you don’t mind providing ?? ****
author: We installed 8 panels (4.8KW, I think) and it cost around 6g. It sends the excess generated back to the grid and you are compensated for that...prices vary but .05 per unit is the starting point. You have to go thru´ a registration process with the junta which takes months.
that’s not too bad. At the current savings you’re making on your bills, it will only take 4 years to pay for itself. ****
author: If you are going to install solar panels be wary of the big companies like endesa/iberdrola & co. They subcontract the work and it is often subcontracted again to autonomos (nothing against autonomos btw) who install and disappear! We used a local company called Ensol Bahia...the panels are German and the machine bit is Chinese but v. good quality. A lot of the salespeople (door knockers etc.) are just that ...salespeople. We were very impressed with the chap from Ensol Bahia....ex technico who knew his stuff and wasn´t intent on flogging his product. Instead he was much more focused on getting the right installation for our needs. E.g. he talked me out of batteries.
A decent installation is around 14000 Euros, but if it's supplementary to mains elex you could have a smaller installation. I don't know if it's still so, but unless you live in an area with no mains, you still have to pay a standing charge. Solar hot water doesn't work in the winter, so you still need a secondary system. Panels will still charge batteries with no sun as long as there is sufficient light. ****
