(saw this on another local expat site today)
author Huge queues on the motorway to Seville, tourists returning home, exacerbated by an accident.
Despite leaving home early, arrived with ten minutes before the gate closed. Hosting Spanish friends'
daughter on her first trip to London, she was so excited. Only to have passport control refuse to allow
her through. Transpires a Spanish law was enacted in 2018 and all under eighteens not travelling with their
parents have to show an authorisation validated by the Guardia Civil. Her father had asked EasyJet he says,
who said it wasn't needed. She is 18 in October! Now on Vueling tomorrow, who confirmed it was a required document.
Needs dates of travel and NIE or passport of host. We shall see what happens tomorrow in Jerez, especially as she is
now travelling alone. Thought I'd post as an advisory.
Good luck. xxxx
Thank you for sharing. xxxx
O no.that is horrendous , hope all goes well today, keep us posted xxxx
I've taken my sons' friends back to UK 6 times, the last time 3 weeks ago. They travelled aged 11, 13 to 17 Every time
the form attached from the police was required as well as a copy of the libro de familia. All airlines requested the documentation
at check-in, no further checks were made after that and UK passport control had no concern as to a minor travelling with adults not
related to him. I am sorry I hadn't thought to post this as useful information. I got lucky that the boys parents had heard about the
requirements and helped prep everything we needed. xxxx
author Interesting. We only had cabin baggage so nothing reared it's head till passport control. She is now on her way from Jerez on Vueling.
Her father just messaged to say they requested nothing at passport control despite her now travelling alone. It's possible they were stricter
at Seville because she was with a Brit. xxxx
