England kept their Euro 2022 dream alive with a dramatic 2-1 extra-time victory over Spain to reach the semi-finals. In their toughest test to date, the Lionesses struggled to find the form shown throughout their record-breaking group stage performances and conceded for the first time in the tournament, as Esther Gonzalez broke the deadlock shortly after the break. Roared on by a raucous Amex Stadium crowd, England initially struggled for a response and looked set to be knocked out of the tournament at the quarter-final stage. But Ella Toone struck late on to equalise and send it to extra-time, where Georgia Stanway scored with a stunning long-range strike to send the Lionesses into the last four.
Final Score: England 2 Spain 1

England win Euro 2022: The Queen leads tributes to Lionesses
England 2 Germany 1
Ella Toone 1 62' Chloe Kelly 1 110'
Lina Magull 1 79'
The Lionesses beat Germany 2-1 at Wembley thanks to goals from substitutes Ella Toone and Chloe Kelly. It is England's first major tournament success since the 1966 men's World Cup.
The Queen has led the tributes to England's Euro 2022 winners, sending a message of congratulations in which she called them "an inspiration".
"My warmest congratulations, and those of my family, go to you all on winning the European Women's Championships," a statement from the UK monarch said.
The Queen's message added: "It is a significant achievement for the entire team, including your support staff. "The Championships and your performance in them have rightly won praise.
However, your success goes far beyond the trophy you have so deservedly earned. "You have all set an example that will be an inspiration for girls and women today, and for future generations. "It is my hope that you will be as proud of the impact you have had on your sport as you are of the result today."
There will be a victory celebration in front of fans at Trafalgar Square on Monday between 11:00 and 14:00 BST - an event that will be broadcast live on BBC One from 12:40 BST. (Spain 13.40)
