Spain's 16,000 public phone booths have been inoperative since 1st January 2022 after the government declared it was no longer necessary to provide them as part of a mandatory service.
Although their use has been dwindling year on year since the invention of mobile phones, it is still possible you may come across one. However Telefonica have now refused to keep supplying the service that costs them around 4.5 million euros a year.
