Saw this on another site yesterday.

So looked at phone & YES!

Group 'Settings' were 'Everyone'

Followed below & easily changed.



if you use WhatsApp, you might need to do the following:
WhatsApp has changed its group settings to include “everyone” by default, so people you don’t actually know can now add you
to a group without your knowing or permission! These people may include scam messages, etc. and a privacy security risk too.
To change the default settings as follows:
1. Go to WhatsApp
2. Go to Settings
3. Go to Account
4. Go to Privacy
5. Go to Groups
6. Change from "Everyone" to "My Contacts"
7. Click “Done”

You will get a message telling you that you have been added to a group when anyone acting as an administrator adds you to a group. A message will also appear when you leave a group. That said, it is a good idea to reduce the people that can add your phone number as a group but don't worry unduly, You will receive a message letting you know
