IKEA
Today was considering maybe purchasing 4 items on-line from Ikea: Spain.
Out of interest: looked at the same 4 items available online Ikea: UK.
Surprised to see quite a difference in price.
UK price = £238 at todays exchange rate would be €272
To purchase on-line in Spain was €318
While reading (out of interest) found out a few facts:
What does IKEA stand for?
IKEA is named after the initials of founder Ingvar Kamprad, Elmtaryd, the farm on which he grew up, and Agunnaryd, the nearby village.
Is Ikea actually Swedish?
IKEA was founded (1943) in Sweden and still flaunts its origins—store exteriors are decorated in the colours of the Swedish flag (blue and yellow),
in-store restaurants serve Swedish food, and the company's products carry Swedish names—
but its headquarters are now in the Netherlands.
INGKA Holding B.V
INGKA Holding B.V., based in the Netherlands,
owns the IKEA Group which takes care of the centers, retails, customer fulfillment, and all the other services related to IKEA products.
Where are Ikea products made?
While most of the IKEA products are designed in Sweden,
much of the actual manufacturing takes place in China and in developing countries such as Vietnam, Malaysia and Myanmar, and also in
Eastern European countries such as Romania and Poland.
