Barclays Bank are cancelling ALL expat credit cards from 22nd October - they expect anyone with a debt to continue to pay it off as normal

Can’t think of the exact term. I suspect this will change to.

For information: We have Barclaycard and Mastercard via NatWest. Yes, they are cancelling our Barclaycard but we can still use Mastercard. I believe that the decision to revoke expats cards was made, not by Barclays Bank but, autonomously by Barclaycard

For information: We have Barclaycard and Mastercard via NatWest. Yes, they are cancelling our Barclaycard but we can still use Mastercard. I believe that the decision to revoke expats cards was made, not by Barclays Bank but, autonomously by Barclaycard Hola, It's to do with the UK not being part of the EU and therefore a "third country" so unless they have permission, then they cannot encroach on the EU's territory for clients Davexf

Wonder what the real impacts of a no deal would be on all sorts of financial services, will things like insurance policies that many have here that are with Gibraltar companies still be valid after 1/1/21?

I think that they are cancelling the cards as it has ALWAYS been the case that you should really have a residents account in the country issuing the card which if you think about it is quite logic really. I haven't seen anything yet that says if you have a card issued to you as a UK resident you would be unable to use that card in Europe. If you are now a Spanish resident then you should of course use a Spanish issued credit card.

If you are now a Spanish resident then you should of course use a Spanish issued credit card. We don´t use Spanish credit cards, we use either cash or debit card, depending on what we´re buying. We do have UK credit cards for some things that need paying in Sterling. This week we´ve received our new Mastercards from NatWest, valid until 2022
