Hola
We were discussing it last night outside the Florentina, and our conclusion was that Chiclana Chat has taken over as people are more likely to view on their phones. My personal thought is that websites will decline in favour of Facebook pages but Facebook needs to go through a few changes so that websites that are automatically updated frequently can transfer over to Facebook.

British Expats forum is sill doing ok, a forum needs to be promoted by its owners to be known. I can't recall any recent posts by the owners, not sure if I even know who they are currently?? Chiclana chat and other Facebook groups are very useful but its very difficult to find any information that you saw a weeks ago as there is no indexing. At least on here you stood a chance of finding historic items. I always thought that mycadiz would have worked best if it had been joined up to Baywatch and or ChiFRA. For it to work it needs to have someone who cares about it and its audience.

This site used to be so good for getting info. and finding out what was going on locally - not always totally accurate! Chiclana chat on Facebook is now a closed group and I can't stand Facebook anyway. Who wants to look at pictures of people 'feeling blessed' because they've posted a picture of spag bol!!Totally agree with Yvonne. This could still be a really useful message board. Happy holidays.

I fully agree Sonny. I loved this site and for many years got lots of hints and info from it.
I to have been checking every week for updates especially as I am in the uk and have been unable to get out to Chiclana due to covid. Just wanted to know how things are there, how people are coping, is it safe if the air bridge in reintroduced etc etc.
Lets hope people take notice of your post and start sharing info again.
Stay safe and well everyone.

Out here for the summer and must say it all seems as safe as it could be. Everyone wearing masks when they are out and lots of hand sanitizer available. Plenty of space on the beach to sit apart unlike Bournemouth! Just a pity that we have to lock ourselves away for 2 weeks when we return!

That all sounds positive Marks, so happy that you are having a lovely safe time. Yes, it does make my blood boil when I watch the news and see the, for want of a better word, stupid people on the uk beaches. What was the point of lockdown π‘π‘π‘.
fingers crossed by the time you are due back the air bridge will be open and you wonβt have to quarantine AND Iβll be on my way to Chiclana ππππ.
this must be the longest thread on here for weeks, π€£π€£π€£

Hola
So why not keep it going with new threads? For arguments sake start a thread on travelling under COVID, or anything else that comes to mind. Once there are regular new threads, people will read more frequently

Well that seems to be it, no further interest, even the animal charities are giving the site a miss.

I agree its a shame to see this site loose out to a vainity project on FB but I always think closed groups are a bad idea! But things usually go round in cycles so dont give up on this site.

Hola As has been said, Facebook really is only for "now" not an encyclopaedia you can look up. ChiFRA members have had regular email updates and a lot of members have said how much they appreciate the information given, especially those "Butterflies" who flit back and forth normally. All the emails sent are available to members to re-read on the ChiFRA website. For Facebook to take over, you need to be able to search subjects and threads which is not the purpose of Facebook. I agree that things go round in cycles, so hang on in there for a while Davexf
