Once again the Mayor and the Ayuntamiemto of Chiclana have kindly granted permission for the British and Irish Expat community to carry out The Act of Remembrance on Sunday 11th. November at 11am at the Barrosa War Memorial.
I am sure that all readers will know that 2018 marks the end of the 1st World War. To that end, I ask you to find 30 minuets of your time to come and pay your respects to the memory of the BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN who gave their lives, limbs and sometimes sanity so that the rest of the people of the UK and Ireland could live in peace and without the fear of World War.
The Poppy Appeal for 2018 will be launched shortly. As usual your support for this worthy cause would be appreciated. Donations of silver or notes is respectfully requested and a minimum of 2 Euro would be gratefully accepted.
At this point, on behalf of The Royal British Legion, I respectfully thank Hazel of the Monopoly for your loyal support in raising funds for the Poppy Appeal over the years. May you and your family have good fortune for the future.
Patrick J Shortt. PJS

The Poppy Appeal has now been launched. Poppies can be purchased at Litchfields English Butcher Shop. Please give generously to this worthy cause and support our service personnel. We only ask you to donate once a year.
On Sunday the 11th. November the Act of Remembrance will be conducted at 11am at CERRO DEL PUERCO at the top end of the hotel area in Novo Sancti Petri. Everyone is welcome to attend. If you could find 30 minuets of your time to remember those who gave their lives, limbs and sanity so that the remainder of the free community of Europe and the World could live in relative peace, it would be much appreciated. Good afternoon Paddy. For those of us who would like to attend can you give a little more information. e.g, directions from the Royal Hideaway roundabout coming from La Barrosa, where to park etc. and do you have an idea as to how long the service may last.
Many thanks

Sorry for the late reply. At the roundabout at the hotel, take the left hand exit. The memorial is on the left about 130 metres. There is plenty of parking area available. The service will start at 11am and will take no longer than 15mins. I hope to see you there despite the late reply. PJS PADDY

I just want to say that I attended for the first time today. I lost both my grandfathers to the wars so it was particularly poignant for me. Thank you so much Paddy for making this day of rememberance so special and for all the work that you and the British Legion do for our forces. God bless

Dear Goonerlyn, Thank you very much. You are more than welcome. It was good to see over 40 people in attendance. It shows that there are people who care and appreciate the sacrifice made by our ancestors like your grandfathers. Great Men. Patrick J Shortt. PJS

Sadly I did not get to the Act of Remembrance Service last Sunday first time since moving to Spain ten years ago, having been hospitalised and only released Wednesday just gone. I understand the Service was well attended and generally a great success.
Congratulations to all that attendend, Thank you to PJS and as always, LEST WE FORGET, ROLLY
