Over the next few months we will be featuring one of our longer standing residents, in the hope that we can find them the right home.
This month it´s Buster and there are photos of him below with his foster brother and sisters.
Buster has been with us for 2 years and has been with his foster mum for most of that time. He is 10 years old but, at times, he races around like he is half that age. Yes, he does have a lot of energy even though he gets a 4km walk most days. Buster originally came to us with his long-term friend, Betty, who passed away last year.
He´s an even tempered boy but I´m told, by his foster mum, that he is good with her dogs and runs around playing with them, but he sometimes barks at other dogs when they are on their walks. He definitely doesn´t like cats. Buster is house trained, walks well on the lead, is no trouble and loves a fuss and a cuddle.
Unfortunately, Buster came to us with low level Leishmania but his last 2 blood tests – one of which was April 2018 – are now in the negative readings. He´s in remission and he can now stop taking his medication. However, he would need a blood test every year, providing he doesn´t show any symptoms and any new family would have to consider this and the yearly cost. If he does show symptoms, then he will have to go back on medication, Allopurinol, which is not expensive. I´m told that the pill goes down well with a little bit of sausage.
His foster mum loves him and will be sad to see him leave her but she recognises that it would be lovely for him to find his Furever home.
Buster would be well suited to either being an only dog or perhaps with an older female or even smaller dogs, providing he is given time to get used to them. Certainly, in a household without cats.
