do you have discount card ? ****
author: obviously it helps living on a bus route ..its interesting taking in the scenery from a higher vantage point and its alot cheaper . If yiu live in town it pays to find out about the circular routes and have the timetables on your phone ..
Where do you get it from? And how long is it valid for? I love getting the bus in Pago. You see over high walls and into other people's homes. ****
author: At the office on the bus parade
Go over the blue bridge by la longera, straight across roundabout up to next one (up the hill) turn right then first left it’s a very modern building, go in there ! if you take a photo with you plus nie and passport it will get done quicker ****
yes discount on glasses free admission into museums discount on cinema it’s definitely worth having ****
I went from chiclana to vejer it was over 6€ oneway ****

author: Q. to any tram users. Can you get a ticket from Chic to Cádiz, get off at San Fernando for a wander and get on a later tram to finish the journey?
Get yourself a green travel card from a Tabac & you can get on & off where you like & it’s cheaper. ****
you mean the tarjeta transporte público ****
yes ****
author: is that the same one you can use on the town buses?
Yes trams, buses & trains ****
I don’t think so because you have to scan your ticket or travel card before you get on and when you get off at the stops. Also the workers scan your ticket or card when you’re on the tram to make sure you’ve paid for the journey ****
Yes you definitely can, you must scan (validate) your card each time you get on and off the tram, you only pay for each section you go on..as was said get a green card which way cheaper, card costs only €1.50 and a trip from Chiclana (pinar) to Cadiz is only 77 cents each way..**** ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

we have the card for local buses, I take it this is different? Where do we buy it? Thanks ****
author: we bought a card at the bus terminus office in town, covers all public transport and I can't believe it only cost (for both of us, not each) €4.25 for return trip to Cadiz (bus from home, tram to Cadiz and return)!! I was always cynical about the tram but if you have time it's definitely the way to go!

(on another local expat site recently) author: Getting the tram into Cadiz from La Hoya near China City. Is there a machine there to get your ticket and if so can you pay by cash or card?
Best to go from Pelegatos as machines are out of the sun!! Notes aren’t taken, sometimes coins &/or card are!! Best to use a bus/tram card to touch on/off, you can get them & add a balance from the portakabin at bus station near river. ****
You can also get a card from any tobacconist ****
Yes I got mine from local tobacconist ****
Don't trust the machines is my experience! ****

(on another local expat site recently) author: We've booked the Comes Chiclana to Sevilla bus on Monday for our girl and her boyf for the day (yes, when we booked it the forecast wasn't quite so hot but they still want to go). Just checking the details... anyone know if it's still bus stop no 5 at chiclana bus station and can anyone tell me what bus number it is? Doesn't say so on the ticket... It's an M-something... I've done it by bus myself on the same route but can't remember the number.
Doesn’t have a no. Ask in kiosk as they change it due to renovations. Last time it was around the corner. Most buses aren’t Comes so not difficult. ****
5, round the corner from the main bus area. The bus will be green, coming down the street from marquesado direction and it say Seville in led letters on the front window ****
They change the stop according to the bus station renovations. ****
We got that bus in Feb, it had no number - Sevilla was on display at the front. I can´t remember which stop it was, we asked in the bus station and the lady told us which one it was. ****
Exactly! No problem, very friendly kiosk assistance. ****
author: yup...you'd think it just might be useful to tell people the number of the bus they're catching...but nope..also info about where it passes through might be useful too. I'm happy to travel by bus but getting the info required (if you're not getting on or off at the beginning/end) is very limited.

author: another travel (bus/train) question: We (4 of us) want to go into Cadiz tomorrow but I've checked Parclick for all the bookable car parks and none have spaces. Next best option is the bus from Chiclana to Cadiz which I know is every half hour. I've done the journey plenty of times outside of August and I know the bus stop is usually busy, but we've always managed to get on the bus. But I haven't tried the bus at the end of August. Has anyone travelled on the M20 to Cadiz recently and did you manage to get on or was the bus too full? I know it's usually a bit of a scrum getting on that bus... Other alternative is San fernando to Cadiz - do we have to book them in advance though? I know there are bookable trains and cercanas - presumably you take pot luck on cercanas.. Any advice/end of August experiences welcome.. if it's likely to be a complete pain in the backside we won't bother...
I take the bus very often, even last Saturday with Cádiz F.C playing we could take it to go and return. For me, it is the fastest option to go to Cádiz (20 minutes to hospital and 35 to the city centre) If you have the travel card "Consorcio de transporte urbano" the price for one trip is 86 cents and you can use same card for all of you. Also it allows you to use the local buses around Cádiz for 44 cents, so cheap! ****
We went on the bus last Saturday no problem and quicker than the tram ****
Best way is drive to Bahia sur park for free and take the train to Cadiz no need to pre book regular trains ****
The station car park always has spaces although you are restricted to 3 hours. We went last week ****
author: Thankyou so much for all the suggestions and options. Good to know! I love this group and the way everyone helps eachother to fill in the gaps and create mutual knowledge.

author: Looking for advice… we originally planned to move to Chiclana but Brexit came and my husband has MS and will be in a wheelchair by next year, so we have had to rule out a permanent move. We have 2 dogs and have found the perfect place to rent for several months (out of season). One of my dogs does not travel well!! Is there a way to travel from the UK that gets us/the dogs close to Chiclana that doesn’t involve a lengthy drive from Santander? I am trying to think outside of the box!
Don’t think so if you want to drive. You can fly from Santander to Sevilla, depending on the weight of your dogs you can take a train from Madrid to San Fernando…. ****
Maybe get the dog something to calm him on the journey and just really light food whilst traveling small amounts ****
We had 2 dogs and travelled from Santander. We stopped quite a few times for the dogs to walk about and made 2 overnight stops. It makes it a lot less stressful ****
Go to vets and get a tranquilizer for your dog. We used to have to do that for just a 3 hour journey because our dog got travel sick. It's only mild but calms them down ****

(on another local expat site recently) author: Hi all I’m going to be travelling to Seville next week to meet a friend from the UK late afternoon. Has anyone parked at Dos Hermanas and got the train into the centre? I’m going to travel back around 9.30/10pm so toying with the idea of driving (not so keen on driving in the centre of Seville) or using dos hermanas as a park and ride. Is it fairly busy around that time still? Thanks all
Yes. Often parked at Montequinto which is the end of the tram line. Was free parking, well lit etc last I used it. ****
I’ve parked at Bahia sur and taken the train to Seville. Really easy and free parking ****
Done both ,for the sake of a few euros I recommend travel from Bahia Sur,enjoy the ride and scenery! ****
Best to park as mentioned earlier Bahia Sur and get the train from there. So easy and a stress free journey. ****
Dos hermana it not a good city to the park so be careful where you park **** author: thanks
author: Thanks for all the replies

Has anybody else noticed that its almost impossible to book a train from Bahia Sur to Seville lately. I tried for a few different dates in October and they were all full. ****
dontt know who you are booking through or looking at but give Omio a try. I had a similar problem but was successful. Also remember you may have problems trying to book more than 4 weeks in advance!! Good luck ****

(on another local expat site recently) author: hello all, anyone know wheere I can buy bus pass thanks in advance -
I don't know what area or bus service you use.. But our bus driver sells the cards on the bus itself. ****
The small office at the bus station sells the local one and the one that you can use on tram and Cadiz and San Fernando bus routes ****
thats where we got ours ****
If you mean the green card that can be used on buses, tram, trains etc, they sell them in tobacconist shops ****
Does anyone know how much they cost? ****
1.50 then a minimum of 5 top up ****
2-3 euros then top them up. ****
