Electric scooters: The changes that Traffic introduces from 2024
Personal Mobility Vehicles will have to meet technical specifications to be able to circulate
The technical specifications are as follows:
Speed and battery level indicators
Acoustic warning
White Front Light
Two independent brake systems actuated from the same or different levers. MVPs with more than two wheels will also be equipped with a Parking Brake
Maximum speed of 25 km/h tag. The engine should stop running at that speed.
White lower front reflector
Footrest made of non-slip material
Wheels with a minimum diameter of 8 inches, made of material that allows adherence to the ground. Slick tires will not be allowed
Information plate located in a visible place with the vehicle 's Factory Certification
Differentiated or combined Red Taillight and Stoplight , and red rear
750 mm maximum distance between the ends of the levers
Maximum weight up to 50 kilos
For car park , a kickstand or side kickstand to stabilize the VMP (those with two wheels)
For folding , a double security system to avoid involuntary opening
It will be from January 2024 when all the brands and models that exist in the market must be certified according to this new standard. This also grants a moratorium on scooters and other non-certified VMPs, which may continue to circulate until January 2027.
