(saw on another local expat site today)
author: Any recommendations for a household water filter? The water is from a community well. We’ve been told the contamination levels can vary because of this. Do you think we need a general filter for the household - showers etc, and one under the sink for drinking water? We’ve been recommended an osmosis filter system for under the sink - although prices are coming in very expensive. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
We use the well / borehole water for showers etc and use bottled water for cooking and drinking. It works OK with us doing it in this manner.. if you don't mind the hassle, it's possible to refill your drinking water bottles from the standpipes that are dotted around the area. xxxx
Author: thanks
I do likewise but use filtered water in the kettle and for cooking,an ordinary Brita jug. Boiling works in the tropics so it must be good enough for Spain. xxxx

(on another local expat site recently)
author Gemma McCormack: Looking for a reliable contact to make a well if anyone knows someone please.
Ben Walby Do you mean drill a new one ?? I believe Clemente used to back in the day, but heard he’d died and his son took over, so perhaps that service has been lost
Ben Walby yes I ask him already I believe and they put me in touch with someone else. I have asked a few people but no one reliable wants to come out. Or once they see its la coquina they tell me its salt water and don't agree to come out and look. Even though I explain loads of people there have wells. Proving difficult to find someone to commit to it for some reason. Yet it already has a well just not deep enough so doesn't get hardly any water. The neighbours say they never have a problem with theirs.
I have the name of this guy Juan De La Vara 666355580, he might be able to help you. He is from Conil and he knows a lot about water in the local areas. He actually came to us and cleaned out our bore hole and surface well a few years ago. I am sure he will have a contact name for you. it made a huge difference to ours . He not only cleaned it all out (now is a good time to do it because water levels are so low atm), but he replaced all the bottom with new clean gravel. After he had finished crystal clear water started to come up. xxxx
Juan is very knowledgeable. He is old school but knows his stuff and reliable. I'd asked him if we could make our well deeper, but he said it was too dangerous as it might collapse. He did clean it, and drilled horizontally to help it replenish. It was quite a job, and seems to have helped a bit. xxxx
