From Diario de Cadiz
The Cadiz Bay Tramway is getting closer to becoming a reality. If the latest forecasts of the Board are fulfilled, it will come into service this same month of July, expanding the possibilities of public transport within the region. On June 1, the fare integration of the Renfe Cercanías and the lines of the Bahía de Cádiz Transport Consortium will come into force, which includes metropolitan buses, the catamaran, and soon, the tram.
The Bay of Cadiz will be, as of June 1, the first Andalusian region in which travellers will be able to use the same card to use the Cercanías trains and metropolitan transport interchangeably, a measure similar to the one that has been applied for years in Madrid with users of the transport pass. As indicated by the Ministry of Development, the rates to be applied in the Bay are the same as those currently in force for the Consortium card.
The Bay of Cadiz is divided into a total of 19 fare zones, and the cost of the trip is determined by the number of hops from the origin and destination zones tags. For example, between Cádiz and San Fernando, there are three jumps, so the cost with the consortium card amounts to 1.35 euros , regardless of the mode of public transport used. In the case of traveling between Cádiz and Chiclana, it would be five jumps, with which the fare amounts to 2.18 euros, both by tram and by bus.
If the journey is made between Chiclana and the Island, it would be only two jumps, so the cost with the metropolitan card would be 1.07 euros.
The future tram line will consist of 21 stops, six within the Cádiz fare zone; nine in San Fernando; and the rest in Chiclana. If the user travels within a single fare zone, without jumps, the cost with the card would amount to 0.89 euros
