Again I'm in need of advice from the old hands on this forum. We bought a second hand, Spanish registered car here last year. What I need to know is, when do I have to pay road tax and will a reminder be sent to me or do I have to go somewhere to sort it out?
many thanks.

Whoever owned the car in January pays the road tax. So if you have only owned it since then you won’t need to pay the previous owner will.

The previous owner paid last year. The car has been in our name since last April so we must pay this year. When and where I do this is the problem!!

It is due in May, I think I'm sure someone will correct me if wrong. The office is in Chiclana, on the road that goes from the indoor fruit and veg market to then river . If you walk up from the river on your left are 3 big wooden doors , it is the middle door, go in and take a ticket. There will prob be queues out the door , so be prepared for a wait. Otherwise you can go now to the same place , take a ticket and wait , then when your turn ask to pay by direct debit yearly. Then no hassle. I only keep saying take a ticket as I didn't know , so wasted about half an hour. Funny looking machine on your right as you go in.

Instead of waiting, go in there now and set up direct debit so you don't have to queue later.....I changed my bank recently and just popped in there to change the dd for car tax and IBI.
