Farewell Brian. I shall miss your humour and your naughtiness on this Board, unless you pop in and keep us on our toes, of course. May good luck follow you wherever you may go.xx

Just a little aside! If like me, you were a Spanish resident and had a Spanish EU driving licence, when and if you return to live in the UK on a permanent basis like we have, your car insurance will be astronomical . . . £1350 fully comp on a Peugeot 3008 diesel . . . 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

I currently pay £35 per month, fully comp. and I can cancel anytime, if I want to insure a second vehicle they will give me 50% NCD.

Can you give me the name of the two companies that you tried, I also avoided the compare sites and online quotes.

Hola
You can easily change your driving licence to a UK licence and the last time I heard, it was completely free of charge

I found that AVIVA accepted my Spanish no claims and I pay £345 fully comp with no claims protection and 8,000 miles p.a.

We had no issues either, our Linea Directa insurance no claims was accepted by Saga. It was about seven years ago so maybe things have changed?

Well what can I say! I can only tell you what I paid for a 2.0 litre diesel car just over 6 months ago. They readily accepted my no claims sent direct to them from Liberty Seguros.

To all who tried to help, thanks . . . I think the main problem is the length of time residend in uk, only three weeks, Spanish EU licence and only three years NCB probably add to the confusions. I have to add that Soren was very helpful, sending on my claims history from Liberty.

Leftie, how long had you been in uk when you applied for car insurance or had you kept an address of convenience in uk whilst being a Spanish resident and having a Spanish licence

Had been in UK for 1 month, always kept my UK driving licence at an address of convenience, but declared to the insurance company that I had been resident in Spain for 10 years plus.

Yvonne here you go, previous answer from saga was the wouldn't insure me View AttachmentWe came back with Spanish licences, a UK car that we had previously matriculated onto Spanish plates. We got an MOT for the car, matriculated it back onto UK plates, exchanged our licences for UK ones. We hadn’t kept a UK address but moved into a flat and were able to give that address to the insurance company. I didn’t get quotes online but just rang Saga, they didn’t seem concerned that we had just come back to the UK after having been resident in Spain for some years. Linea Directa gave us proof of our no claims discount, this was all accepted with no problems. Maybe there have been some changes to procedure? Hope you get it sorted out.

brianbig61, I came back here with a EU Spanish licence bought a car and insured it within 3 days, however i do have full NCD, so I guess its down to you having only 3 years NCD. Did you try the companies I listed for you?
The 35 pcm includes breakdown cover.
