There is a shortage of properties for long term rentals; I have spoken to several people who manage properties as well as had requests for information on available properties from prospective renters and the situation is not good for people who want to rent long term. The problem always was the money that could be charged during the summer months being equal to a complete years rental.
The other problem is that with the exchange rate around 1-10 to 1-15 - people are preferring to sell as they get more pounds for their euros.
